I recently went to South Africa to do research for my next book. I spent a week at a wildlife reserve in Limpopo for a volunteer program.
I wanted to learn more about the animals we share this planet with and the problems they face trying to survive in a world with over 8 billion humans.
The weather was nearly perfect, even though June in South Africa is the winter season.
Keep checking back for updates. I have a lot more to post.
Scroll down, there are more photos.

Zebras aren't critically endangered, but poachers will kill them if there's a market for their hides. All they need is a buyer.
A group of zebras is called a dazzle, because a group of zebras running together is quite dazzling.
These are southern white rhinos. The northern white rhino and the western black rhino are both classified as extinct. Mostly due to poaching.
Slaughtered for their horns.
One of many spectacular South African sunsets.
Our group went on a sunrise drive and a sunset drive every day. It's the best way to monitor the animals behavior and movements. When they first start their day, and when they're settling down for the night.
