This is a pangolin. They are gentle, solitary creatures. They are one of the most highly poached mammals on the planet. A female gives birth to only one pup a year. They are being slaughtered faster than they can reproduce.
South Africa is a beautiful place with amazing animals, good wine and wonderful people.
